Privacy Policy

Mortar & Kettle is an open recipe index published by LadonAl Labs. It is built to collect as little about you as possible. This page explains, in plain terms, exactly what that means.

The short version

The site has no accounts and shows no advertising, and we do not sell personal data. With your consent, we use privacy-first analytics to understand how the Index is used and make it better. Nothing that measures your visit or sets an analytics cookie loads until you accept in the banner, and you can decline with a single click.

What stays on your device

Some recipe pages let you check off ingredients and steps and scale a batch. Those choices are saved in your browser’s local storage so the page remembers them on your next visit. This information never leaves your device and is never sent to us. You can erase it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data for this site.

Cookies

By default the site sets no advertising or analytics cookies. Fonts are self-hosted and images are served from our own domain. If you accept in the consent banner, our analytics tools (see Analytics) may set cookies or similar identifiers to measure usage; if you decline, they are not loaded and set nothing. You can review or change your choice at any time from the cookie preferenceslink in the footer, or by clearing this site’s data in your browser. We show no advertising cookies.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel may process standard technical request data (such as IP address, browser type, and the page requested) to serve pages and protect the service. That processing is governed by Vercel’s privacy policy. We do not combine these logs with any profile of you.

Analytics

With your consent, we use two Microsoft and Google services to understand how the Index is used:

• Microsoft Clarity for product analytics, heatmaps, and session recordings. A recording is a de-identified, aggregated replay of interactions on a page (clicks, scrolls, mouse movement) used to spot confusing layouts. Clarity masks text content by default and is not used to identify you. See Microsoft’s privacy statement.
• Google Tag Manager to load and manage the above. It may set or read cookies to do so, subject to Google’s privacy policy.

These may collect usage data such as pages visited, approximate (city-level) location, and device and browser type. They run under Google Consent Mode and are disabled until you accept in the banner. Decline and they never load.

Advertising

The site shows no ads today. We intend to display advertising in the future to help keep the index free and open. Ad providers may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads, which can involve collecting data about your visit. Before ads go live we will update this policy to identify our advertising partners and, where required, provide a way to manage your choices.

Some pages link to outside references. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.

Children

The site is a general-audience recipe index and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

We may revise this policy as the site grows. Any change will be reflected in the “last updated” date above. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy. See also our Terms & Conditions.
