Green Protein Smoothie Easy · 5 min · Forgiving · 1 batch 60 g of protein, no added sugar; kale, seeds, and whey, blended whole A smoothie engineered for the numbers and still built to taste good: around 60 grams of protein, a wall of fibre, no added sugar, and a near-complete sweep of micronutrients, all for roughly 850 unapologetic calories. Kale carries the vitamins and its cruciferous defence compounds; banana and mango do all the sweetening so nothing else has to; whey and collagen stack the protein and the amino acids that rebuild you; and pumpkin, chia, and flax bring the omega-3s, minerals, and fibre. The one trick that makes it drinkable: grind the seeds dry first so they actually break down, then blend the kale into the milk until it vanishes, and only then everything else. The result is a green glass that drinks like dessert and reads like a supplement label. INGREDIENTS - 60 g kale (whole leaf)
- 120 g banana (fresh, peeled)
- 80 g mango (fresh or frozen)
- 250 ml fresh milk (full-fat)
- 30 g whey protein (unflavoured)
- 15 g collagen peptides (peptides)
- 20 g pumpkin seeds
- 10 g chia seeds
- 10 g ground flaxseed (ground)
- 15 g peanut butter (optional, for taste)
Method - Grind: Blend the pumpkin seeds, chia, and flaxseed dry, on their own, until they break down to a coarse meal. Grinding them first is what lets their oils and fibre actually release into the drink.
- Greens: Add the milk and the kale and blend until completely smooth, with no green flecks left; the kale should disappear into the base.
- Finish: Add the banana, mango, whey, collagen, and the peanut butter if using, and blend again until thick and glossy. Add a handful of ice for a colder, thicker pour.
- Serve: Pour and drink straight away, before the chia has time to thicken it further.
